Filming Locations

Both the Slam city stores in Shoreditch and the store Covent Garden were used in the production of our film. We chose these two locations because they're widely known in London as the "hub" for skaters, not only to buy skateboarding products but also to network and meet people. We think it would be a good opportunity to talk to workers/customers from the stores. Our main location - Southbank Skate Area is also key because it's known all over the world as the "home of skateboarding", it is thus a great place to get observational footage of those in the community.

(Permission was granted for us to film in Slam City Skates Covent Garden for the 'Garda Event' by the manager - Dave).

"The home of skateboarding"

We chose to shoot in Lloyd’s park in Walthamstow, the local skatepark for everyone who lives in Walthamstow. In London there are quite a few skateparks but London is a big place so they are fairly far apart. Big known parks in London are Mile End, Victoria park, Southbank and Bay 66 but we chose our local park as we believe that the vibe is very organic and the sense of community is stronger.

These filming locations are the basis of our documentary short film because they hold a real meaning to those who skateboard. Skateparks will help us get a range of shots, while skate stores will be the core of our interviews.
