"What does a website say about your brand?"

Creating a website can be a real challenge since there are so many templates and layout options. Sometimes more is less and other times a much more decorative design is the best way to go to have an eye-catching effect on viewers.

In order to decide on how to begin, we started with a blank canvas instead of using a wix website template because we wanted to put our own stamp on it and make it unique to us.

Here is an example of the logo on the homepage that we created during our first team meeting. It is a simple, black icon that looks like a a rounf ball with spikes around it. We decided on the name TA Media because it is a combination of our initials and sounds like a professional company name. But after looking at other film company websites, we agreed that our website needs to stand out and show our creative flare. This led us to create a brand new logo and use colour within our website to look much more attractive than our original, bland layout.

I created our new logo by using a "logo-maker" online:

We stuck with our original idea for the name of our group as we thought it was effective in showing that we are a collaborative team. As you can see, I have however made the font bigger and bolder in order for it to stand out. The icon within the logo is a director's clapperboard embedded with a camera shutter. This icon has a better connection with our name and project since we're making a film.

Colour is also a key part of a website and to help us decide on a colour that we both liked, we chose the best colours we thought would be distinctive from this colour wheel. The colours we considered were: sky blue, deep orange and grass green.

I then found an online article titled 'What does COLOR say about your BRAND?':

From this, we chose to use the colour 'teal' - a dark greenish-blue. Along with the colour being a combination of our favourite shades (green and blue), according to the article, teal is the most common color requested by photographers for logo designs. It is also seen as a colour that helps to open the lines of communication between the heart and spoken word, which we thought was very intriguing as a documentary also aids in doing this; not only communicating personal views through spoken words, but through visual image. Cool link right?
